Founded by the Missionaries of Africa, the Lavigerie Missionary Center was launched on December 16, 2021. It is a pastoral center that welcomes people wishing to enter into communion with God through training sessions, research sessions, conferences and other pastoral activities. It opened its branch in Rwanda, precisely in Kiyovu, near the Polyclinic La Médicale, known as Chez Kanimba.
Indeed, the specialty of the Lavigerie Missionary Center is the provision of all services in their entirety; it is a place easily accessible to all those who want to stay there. Although this Center is affiliated with the Catholic Church, it welcomes and treats people of different religious denominations in the same way. The Lavigerie Missionary Center is located in the center of the City of Kigali, thus facilitating those who wish to walk around the City, since its location makes it easy to walk around the City of Kigali on foot.
At the entrance to the Centre, we can see that the best has been done for visitors to the Centre, given the availability of the magnificent garden and the chapel serving Catholic believers who wish to come there for worship. Apart from that, the center is close respectively to the parish of Sainte Famille and Saint Michel, which makes it easier for those who want to go there to spend moments of prayer provided that there is has a distance of less than 20 minutes on foot.
During our interview with the Coordinator of Lavigerie Missionary Center, Father Simplice Traoré, we were given a description of the services offered at the center; apart from accommodation and bar/restaurant services; there is also a large and a small hall reserved for the reception of various ceremonies, those of marriage included; there is also the shop of images related to the Catholic faith, different wooden artistic objects, various artistic paintings, made in Rwanda products including clothes, shoes, etc.

Father, Simplice Traoré said: “As you can see, this Missionary Center offers different services, we have the garden which can accommodate wedding ceremonies, meetings and wedding rooms, the bar, the restaurant, the rooms of different categories according to financial situation of everybody, a place for entertainment, without forgetting the wide car parking and a free Wi-Fi”.
He also mentioned that in case people who stay there wish to prepare meal in their own way, the center has provided a kitchen for those who prefer the meal different from the one available at the center’s restaurant or bar, these people are facilitated to find the people who help to prepare such a kind of meal.
